What is MadHatchers?
MadHatchers is a one-of-a-kind poultry directory and marketplace for chicken sellers, buyers, and enthusiasts. The MadHatchers platform allows sellers to list their poultry products and/or services and buyers to browse local offerings and contact farms.
What’s the benefit of this system? I already have a website.
Most of our users already have a website. For those that don’t, we offer a basic storefront. Even if you have a website it doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed to be in front of buyers. Our marketing team spends a “dedicated” time bringing our system to the frontlines of all poultry enthusiasts, and our goal as an organization is to be the 1 stop shop for poultry searches. Because we have this goal, we are attracting people to use our system to find what they’re looking for poultry-related. Being part of our system allows your organization to come up in their search.
Being part of MadHatchers is adding to your toolset, It doesn’t replace what you do. The core benefit of the system is that you can leverage our system, where we’re using technology to make it easier for sellers and buyers, and our dedication to get your services and offerings in front of buyers. Our system releases will have many updates to include robust reporting, auto alerts via text, and other marketing tools.
Buyers will first look at listings in our system, but they often will go to our users’ direct websites too. Think about it like YELP. You want to list on YELP so people can find you, but most YELP users already have a website.
How much does it cost to join MadHatchers?
Joining the MadHatchers marketplace and directory is free! In the future, we will offer both a free version and a paid version with updated features. Once we’ve established the base features, we will provide a nominal monthly or annual fee for the paid version. To provide input on this, join our Power Hatchers group!
How do I join?
To join, fill out our quick questionnaire. Our Community Director will reach out to you to gather any additional information needed, and provide you with instructions and training on how to log into the platform.
I registered, how long does it take to get access to the system?
Our pre-launch registrations will receive their login by 4/19. If you register after 4/19, it takes us up to 3 days to activate your account.
What type of products can I sell?
The MadHatchers platform is specifically for listing products such as chickens, hatching eggs, fresh eggs, chicken coops, chicken feed, chicken-themed accessories, feeders, waterers, and chicken care services.
How long until buyers will reach out to me?
We can’t control when buyers will reach out to our sellers. However, reach out to our Community Manager if you need help in marketing your services. On average, if you carry a popular breed or product, you will get traction within 5-10 days.
What does being in the directory mean?
We have both Registered and Directory users. A Director user means we’ve placed what information we found about you and your products in our directory so buyers can find you. This can include information such as contact details, location, and breeds carried found through social media engagements or your website.
A Registered user is one who updated their own information and has the ability to post listings or contact sellers. Become an active, registered user now!
Is my information complete in the directory?
Registered users: Your profile is the data and information you filled out in the system.
Directory users: We did our best to add breeders and poultry service providers to our system. This may not be a complete profile/farm/breeder overview. We encourage each individual to register as a user in our system and update their information directly.
Why do I have to register when I’m already in the directory?
We recommend directory users become registered users so they have control of the information shared on their profile. This will allow you to update your breed list, change contact information, receive notifications from buyers, and more.
How do I update my inventory on MadHatchers?
To update your inventory on MadHatchers, you’ll need to be a registered user. Sign in using your credentials, click on your initials in the top right corner (or profile picture if you’ve set one), and navigate to “My Listings”. From there, you’ll be able to see all of your listings, update their information, and delete the product once it’s sold.
How do I post a listing for a product I’m selling?
To post a listing, sign in using your credentials and press the (+ Post a listing) button in the top right corner of your page. From there, select the appropriate category for your offering and fill out as much detail as possible. The more detail you add, the more likely your listing will be to come up when users search. Adding a picture (or several!) also will attract attention to your listing.
How will I know if someone is interested in my products or services?
If a user is interested in your products, services, or wants to contact you directly, you will receive a notification via email. If you are a directory user, the best way to ensure we have the correct email address for you is to become a registered user.
What areas does MadHatchers cover?
MadHatchers currently is covering the Northern California and Southern California regions. We are always looking to expand into new regions — if you would like to nominate your region or become an Ambassador, please visit our MadCircles page or reach out to us directly at team@madhatchers.com.
Can we buy directly from MadHatchers?
MadHatchers does not sell products directly. For all purchases, buyers are able to contact sellers directly through the platform to arrange for purchase of their listings.
How do I purchase an item I’m interested in?
If you’re interested in a particular listing, you’ll want to navigate to that listing’s page and 1) contact the seller directly or 2) join the waitlist (when applicable).
Does MadHatchers breed chickens?
MadHatchers does not breed or carry chickens. However, our affiliate farm Mad Makers Farm does. While we work closely with this group to get direct input about our ideas, we operate separately from them.
Does MadHatchers ship chickens?
MadHatchers is specifically designed to focus on local areas to avoid the need to ship poultry. While we can’t prevent sellers from offering to ship, we do always encourage safe selling practices.
